CHUMP CHANGE
[ country ]

Ever since a man named Cain killed his brother Abel
The love of money has remained at the bottom line of evil
Some pretend we’ve come a long way, but no doubt we’re the same
As the day Abel was taken out by his brother Cain

Rich men and kings of history send soldiers off to war
Hide behind their castle walls, pay them wages of the poor
Flags and colors may be different but the end result’s the same
As the day Abel was taken out by his brother Cain

It’s the same old story, it’s the same old song
Lovin’ your brother’s right and killin’ him is wrong
You can say it’s for God an’ country an’ all the reasons re-arrange
But at the bottom line wars are fought for nothin’ but chump change

Technology’s latest gadgets promise freedom and less stress
As 21st Century fox sound bites sing praises of progress
But ever-bigger weapons insure our future will only be the same
As the day Abel was taken out by his brother Cain

It’s the same old story, it’s the same old song
Lovin’ your brother’s right and killin’ him is wrong
You can say it’s for God an’ country an’ all the reasons re-arrange
But at the bottom line wars are fought for nothin’ but chump change

Now, you can call me Jonah, I’ve been swallowed by a whale
Some say it’s a fish story but I lived to tell the tale
Science may claim we’ve come a long way but we’re still the same
As the day Abel was taken out by his brother Cain

Now I’m stranded here where Lazarus lives in homeless pain
Prayin’ America’s not taken out by Abel’s brother Cain
