IF I COULD ONLY SING
[ country ]

If I could only sing I would not have to cry
Wouldn’t have to think about that day we said goodbye
A good song would help dry these rivers from my eyes
          If I could only sing

If I could only sing I’d be on center stage
Like Willie and the boys, Emmylou & Patti Page
With my name on the marquee, how happy I would be
          If I could only sing

If I could only sing, I would not have to frown
Wouldn’t have to recall how you tramped all over town
I’d be the life of the party instead of slowing down
          If I could only sing

I could symphonize a serenade, harmonize a phrase
Croon about that good tune we played on better days
Even join in on Sunday, offer up some praise
          If I could only sing

If I could only sing, I could belt these blues away
Drown out my sorrow, vocalize of new tomorrows
Life could be a melody, good keys would all play
          If I could only sing
Yeah, if I could only sing
