LIKE WE DID BACK THEN
[ country ]
Took a trip back to my home town down by the old wood school
Where I had my share of good times an’ broke my share of rules
With no computers or calculators we had to learn to count ourselves
An’ back then they didn’t ignore the best books on history’s shelves
Back then we learned there’s grand design behind the master plan
And it gave us all a reason to help our fellow man
An’ Lord I’d give anything to be born again
To live like we did back then
We struggled to get by back then on our small family farm
There was plenty of work to get done before the sun went down
Livin’ in a slower lane we got far enough along anyway
And looked forward to the future instead of dreamin’ of yesterday
Back then we learned there’s grand design behind the master plan
And it gave us all a reason to help our fellow man
An’ Lord I’d give anything to be born again
To live like we did back then
In a dot-com information age it’s easy to forget how to feel
Like rats trapped in a steel city cage spinnin’ on a science fiction wheel
Back then we learned there’s grand design behind the master plan
Yeah, it gave us all a reason to help our fellow man
An’ Lord I’d give anything to be born again
To live like we did back then
Ummm, mmm, mmm, ummm, like we did back then
