ME AND MY DAD
[ country ]

‘Bout the same time each year at the rise of summer’s sun
We’d head home to the family farm for some family vacation fun
Back to where my dad was raised in Walker County, proud and true
Me an’ my mom, my dad, little brother an’ sister too

Me an’ my dad, we’d go fishin’, talk all about my ambition
Lately I’ve been wishin’ for all those best times we once had
Down home on the family farm, me an’ my dad

Now I’ve long since have grown, my dad lives in a home
Gran'dad’s long since passed on an' the family farm’s long gone
We work hard but can’t make ends meet an’ afford vacation, too
Me an’ my son, his mom, little brother an’ sister Sue

He an’ his dad would like to go fishin’, talk all about his ambition
Yeah, we’ve both long been missin’ all those best times we never had
Down home on the family farm, he an’ his dad

Now this hope remains in me, away from home, workin’ day an’ night
That the circle will remain unbroken underneath these harsh city lights

And someday we’ll all go fishin’, laugh all about our ambition
Never again to be missin’ all those best times we wish we had
Gran'dad, my son, his mom, little brother an’ sister Sue
My brother, sister, too and me an’ my dad *
