MUDDY CHANNEL RADIO
Maybe you can’t afford ‘lectricity and are stumblin’ in the dark
And homeless veterans may be sleepin’ in your local park
Good jobs and union income might all be long gone
But you ain’t gonna hear no sympathy when you turn the radio on
We play songs ‘bout boots n’ mud, pickup trucks an’ home grown brew
Cowboy Mom on some beach with a dog an' Margarita, too
But if challenge a corrupt congress, sponsor’s just say “no”
We’re afraid to stand up for the people on muddy channel radio
We claim we’re tough cowboys n’ gals who stand an’ take our licks
But we’re too scared of our mommas to breathe a word ‘bout politics
Even if we had balls enough to sing 'bout workin’ class woe
You won’t likely hear it played anytime soon on mainstream radio
We spin tunes ‘bout sex n’ booze an’ getting’ down on a dirty horse
Fightin’ n’ cheatin’ and a little barroom romance, of course
But if we dare declare there ain't healthcare, sponsor’s just say “no”
We’re afraid to stand up for the people on muddy channel radio
We play songs ‘bout trains, jumpin’ out'ta planes. . . throw in a little Jesus, too
But if you’re a workin’ stiff we won't likely help you believe he died for you
We claim to love God n' country an' bleed red, white an' blue
But when it comes to freedom of speech we ain’t got a tick-turd clue
If we protest oil whores' illegal wars, sponsor’s just say “no”
We’re afraid to stand up for the people on muddy channel radio
Now in Nashville there's a social club. . . called Music Row Democrats
But when it comes to politics heard on radios, Toby Keith knows they're
scaredy-cats
While God’s children take a screwin’, we’re all left jus’ chewin’
Recycled ho hum bubblegum on muddy channel radio
