PLENTY
[ country-folk ]

Some say they are a Christian, some say they’re a Jew
Some don’t quite know what they are, of them there’s quite a few
Some believe in their religion and some they don’t got any
Anyway, why sould we care, if his name is plenty?

It’s a story ‘bout a hammer, story ‘bout some nails
Story about what works even when everything else fails
About faith, hope and love even if we ain’t got any
Finally some good news that says a name is plenty

Why not take the easy way 'stead of them preacher lies?
Beware shallow science that don’t know who rules the skies
Why follow some religion, after all, he don’t got any?
Anyway, why sould we care, if his name is plenty?

It’s a story ‘bout a hammer, story ‘bout some nails
Story about what works when even all else fails
About faith, hope and love even if we ain’t got any
Finally some good news that says a name is plenty

They say his name is plenty, it’s been written down in blood
Even though now and then we’ve all tramped it in the mud
Why follow some religion, after all, he don’t got any?
Anyway, why sould we care, if his name is plenty?

It’s a story ‘bout a hammer, story ‘bout some nails
Story about what works when even all else fails
About faith, hope and love even if we ain’t got any
Finally some good news that says a name is plenty

Why bow to some religion if the true God don’t got any?
And why the hell should we care if his name is plenty?
Yeah, why the hell should we care if his name is plenty?
